Application and deadlines
The application must be submitted no later than May 27 2022, by filling the attached template (please use the file "Facsimile_domanda.pdf"; its content is translated in the file "Translation_facsimile_domanda.docx") and sending it to the following address:
The application must be signed by the applicant in original, under penalty of exclusion, and sent together with a copy of a valid ID, curriculum vitae and a short letter of self-presentation and motivation.
The call for applications is published on the Salento University's institutional website www.unisalento.it in the section "Announcements and Competitions - Training Projects".
By submitting the application, the applicant:
- assumes responsibility, pursuant to Articles 46 and 47 of Presidential Decree 445/2000, for the statements made and the files attached to the application, in full awareness of the criminal penalties arising from false statements and/or mendacious declarations;
- declares that he/she is aware that the collection and processing of personal data will take place in compliance with national and EU law, as well as with the principles of fairness and protection of confidentiality and exclusively for purposes related to all the fulfillments related to the full implementation of the administrative relationship with the University.
The email sent to submit the application must have the following subject: "Domanda di partecipazione alla “Summer School LingTech", Università del Salento, Dipartimento di Studi Umanistici.
Selection modalities
The school is addressed to students and young graduates in humanities or in technology (max. 30) who want to get to know the world of speech technologies. Participants may be:
- university students and/or young graduates in the humanities (CFUs acquired in linguistics, where applicable L-LIN/01 or L-FIL-LETT/12) or in computer science and technology (e.g. computer science or electronic engineering). Students must have obtained their degree no more than two years ago; they may be enrolled in three-year degree courses, provided they have already acquired at least 60 CFU.
- PhD and post-doctoral students (who have obtained their degree by no more than two years); The school provides 50 hours of activities, corresponding to 2 CFUs (University credits). Five modules are included (all topics will be addressed in English).
Participants will be selected based on the following criteria:
- Curriculum vitae et studiorum (European CV format), maximum score 60 (a minimum level of knowledge of English is required, also attested by self-declaration (minimum level B1 of CEFR);
- Letter of motivation, maximum score 40;
- Order of application (date of submission).
Only applications from applicants who have attested, including through self-declaration, a level of English language proficiency that corresponds, as a minimum, to level B1 of the CEFR will be evaluated.
The evaluation of applications for admission to the School will be carried out by a Commission, appointed by the Director of the Department and composed of three internal members of the University of Salento.
The list of those admitted will be published on the University's institutional website https://www.unisalento.it in the section "Notices and Competitions - Training Projects." This fulfills the notification requirements (Article 8 of Law No. 241/90).
